The Programme
The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies implements the Mitsubishi Corporation
International Scholarship program sponsored by Mitsubishi Corporation and is awarding nine (9)
merit-based scholarships to undergraduate students at University of Nairobi who are pursuing
a course of study directly in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies.
This program is meant to increase students’ interest in the environmental
profession and to support them in defining career goals.

It will provide the selected student with:
Kshs 96,000 full scholarship for the following year of study namely 1, 2 & 3

Eligibility
Candidates for the Mitsubishi Corporation International Scholarship Program must:
• Be a full time Undergraduate student

• Be pursuing a course in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies

• Demonstrate financial need

• Be a Regular student

• Be an active club member in any group/club in the University of Nairobi

• Have at least an overall grade of an A

Application Process
Candidates Must Submit:
• A completed application form

• An essay of 600 words or less on “My future career goals in Environmental Science/Studies”



• A letter of application for the Scholarship

• A copy of your current transcript; if in the 1st year-copy of KCSE Certificate

• A resume, which should include, among other things; a list of honors, awards, and scholarships received (if any), a list of extra-curricular activities (if any), and whether you have been involved in a research project.

GANDHI SMARAK NIDHI FUND - POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP: 2009/2010 ACADEMIC YEAR











The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi fund will offer a limited number of
partial scholarships tenable at the University of Nairobi, for
Masters and Postgraduate Diploma studies during the
2009/2010 academic year.


Interested candidates are invited to apply for the scholarship by
filling in a formal application/re-application form available in
Room A112 Administration Block, Main Campus after
presenting a receipt of a non-refundable application fees
of Kenya Shillings Five Hundred Only (KShs. 500.00). This
amount should be deposited into University of Nairobi Account
No.03-094-8245531, Barclays Bank of Kenya - Queensway House
Branch at any Barclays Bank of Kenya branch. The bank deposit
slip should then be taken to the Student Finance Office (Room
G4), for receipting.


Applicants must attach to the completed form a letter of offer
(Notice of eligibility) to study at the University of Nairobi at
postgraduate level for a Masters/Postgraduate Diploma (not PhD)
course under the regular programmes and must have attained at
least an Upper Second Class Honours or its equivalent at Bachelors
Level.

USIU SCHOLARSHIPS

Full USIU Scholarship for the Bachelor’s Degree

There are two (2) USIU ScholarShipS for Kenyan students seeking to pursue undergraduate
degrees at USIU. applicants must demonstrate academic and leadership achievements and
must be financially needy (proof required).
The scholarships cover the cost of tuition, room and board, books and computer lab fees beginning
Fall Semester (September) 2009. Recipients must meet other expenses such as Medical and Student
Afairs Council (SAC) fees.
Minimum Qualifications: B+ Mean grade in the 2008 KCSE and a grade of B (plain) in English
and Mathematics.

Freshmen Scholarships
There are eight (8) FreShMeN ScholarShipS for Kenyan students seeking to pursue
undergraduate degrees at USIU. The Scholarships shall be awarded on merit to one top student
from each province of Kenya. The scholarship will cover 25% tuition costs beginning Fall Semester
(September) 2009.
Minimum Qualifications: c+ Mean grade in the 2008 KCSE or its equivalent.

Sports Scholarships for Freshmen

Nine (9) ScholarShipS will be awarded to Kenyan students seeking to
pursue their Bachelor’s Degree at USIU. Applicants must have excelled and
be in possession of Provincial and /or National Certifcates in the following
sports categories;
Two Basketball Scholarships (one each per gender) •
Two Hockey Scholarships (one each per gender) •
One scholarship each for Soccer, Rugby, Swimming, Martial Arts •
(Taekwondo) and Athletics (long races).
Each scholarship will cover 40% tuition costs beginning fall (September)
Semester 2009
Minimum Qualifications: C+ Mean grade in the 2008 KCSE or its
equivalent.

Kenyatta University Scholarships Opportunities

OVS Scholarships

Kenyatta University is offering Five (5) Scholarships for Orphans and Vulnerable Students (OVS) from Kenya seeking to pursue undergraduate degrees at KU.

The scholarships will cover the full tuition cost beginning the academic year 2009/2010 for those who have already been admitted to KU programmes.

Requirements:

* Minimum C+ Mean grade in the 2007 OR 2008 KCSE.

Partial OVS Scholarships

Five (5) partial scholarships for orphans and vulnerable students (OVS) are available for students from Kenya seeking to pursue undergraduate degrees at KU.

The scholarships will cover the 40% tuition costs beginning the academic year 2009/2010 for OVS who have already been admitted to KU programmes.

Requirements:

* Minimum C+ Mean grade in the 2007 or 2008 KCSE.

Scholarships for Continuing Students

There are ten (10) partial scholarships for tuition for students already in session at KU.

The scholarship will cover 25% tuition costs beginning the academic year 2009/2010 for students with proven high performance and genuine need of financial assistance.


KU Internal Bursary

Internal bursaries are for students already enrolled into Kenyatta University programmes and are awarded based on the need of vulnerable students. The application should be supported by a letter from either the principal/headteacher, chief or pastor.
NOTE: The application is made through the Dean of Students.

KU Postgraduate Scholarships

The University will give SIXTEEN(16) postgraduate scholarships to cover tuition for the Masters programme. These scholarships will be awarded to graduate students admitted in September 2009/2010 academic year and will be based on proven high academic performance.

NOTE: The application is made through the Deans of Schools.

Application procedure:

All interested applicants must submit the following to the KU Financial Aid Office by July 3rd 2009: Application letter, filled application form, certified copies of relevant certificates/transcripts, reference letter by Principal/Head Teacher or chief/pastor; and a short essay on why you deserve the scholarship.

Applicants for these scholarships should visit the KU website at http://www.ku.ac.ke to download the application form or visit the Financial Aid Office on Nigeria Street, Office No. 1

Those who do not hear from us by August 5th 2009 should consider their applications unsuccessful.

Students who have benefited from other funding sources are not eligible for the scholarships.

The Kingdom of Morocco Scholarships 2009/2010

The Kingdom of Morocco Government is offering fourteen (14) undergraduate scholarships

Eligibility: Applicants should be:

i) Holders of a minimum of KCSE Mean Grade (B) plain with strong grades in the subjects relevant to the desired course (at least B).

ii) Under 25 years of age.

iii) Those who completed school not more than three (3) years ago.

Application Procedure

Preliminary application forms are obtainable from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science & Technology Headquarters, Jogoo House 'B' Room 801 or from the Provincial Technical Training Offices.

The forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry's website www.scienceandtechnology.go.ke
